Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 August 2026
This policy explains what information Noviqen ("we", "us") collects when you use www.noviqen.co.uk, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.
Who we are
Noviqen is a UK-focused personal finance publication. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can reach us through our contact page.
Information we collect
We only collect the following:
- Contact form data — your name, email address, chosen purpose and message, submitted voluntarily so we can reply.
- Comments — the display name you type and the comment text you publish on an article. Comments are public.
- Feedback and ratings — the emoji rating and optional suggestion you submit in the short experience survey.
- Engagement signals — anonymous page views, claps and likes stored against a random visitor identifier held in your browser. This identifier is not linked to your name or email.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and timestamps, processed by our hosting and analytics providers to keep the site secure and working.
We do not ask for financial account details, card numbers, National Insurance numbers or any other sensitive personal information, and you should never send these to us.
Why we use it and our legal basis
- To reply to your enquiries — legal basis: legitimate interests (responding to a request you made).
- To publish and moderate comments — legal basis: legitimate interests in running a safe community.
- To measure which articles and tools are useful — legal basis: consent for non-essential analytics cookies, legitimate interests for aggregated, non-identifying counts.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse or spam — legal basis: legitimate interests.
- To display advertising that helps fund the site — legal basis: consent where required for advertising cookies.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them for three purposes: essential site functionality (such as remembering an admin login session), analytics (Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, to understand traffic in aggregate), and advertising (our advertising partners may set cookies to measure and select ads).
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site; blocking analytics or advertising cookies will not.
Advertising and third parties
Some pages carry advertising supplied by third-party networks. These networks operate independently of us and may collect device and browsing information to serve and measure ads. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your name, email or messages with advertisers.
We also link to external sites (for example GOV.UK, HMRC, the Bank of England or product providers). Once you follow an external link, that site's own privacy policy applies.
Service providers we rely on
- Hosting, database and authentication — used to store articles, comments, messages and engagement counts securely.
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager — aggregate traffic measurement.
- Advertising networks — ad delivery and measurement.
- AI text and image services — used to help draft and illustrate editorial content. We do not send your personal data to these services.
Some providers process data outside the UK. Where that happens, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep data
- Contact messages: kept while we handle your enquiry and for up to 24 months afterwards.
- Comments: kept until you or we remove them.
- Feedback and ratings: kept in aggregate; individual entries removed after 24 months.
- Analytics data: retained according to our analytics provider's standard retention window.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Ask us to delete your data, including your comments or a contact message.
- Object to or restrict processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent for analytics or advertising cookies at any time.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
To exercise any of these, message us via the contact page. We respond within one month.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site develops or the law changes. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be highlighted on this page.
